How Do You Approve a Plate Frame Design Before Ordering?

There is no proof to wait on. Frontline Frames' builder shows a live preview of your frame as you design it — logo, text, font, color, and material, rendered exactly as it will be manufactured. You approve the design by finishing it in the builder and placing the order: what you see on screen is what ships, not a mockup a rep sends you to review days later.

What does the builder's live preview actually show?

The preview renders your exact configuration — the logo you uploaded, your top and bottom text, the font and color you picked, and the material and finish you selected — and updates the moment you change any of it. It is not a sketch or an approximation of the final frame. It is the design that goes into production.

Materials available in the builder are high-quality plastic, and metal in standard chrome, black powder-coat, polished chrome, or antique pewter. Whichever you pick, the preview reflects that choice, along with your logo upload and your choice of font and color for the text.

What should I check before approving a design in the builder?

Review it the way you'd review a print proof, because functionally it is one: correct logo file, correct spelling and text placement, the font and color you meant to pick, the material and finish, and the quantity. Zoom in on the logo specifically — a low-resolution upload is the single most common issue at this stage.

  • Logo file is sharp at the size shown, not blurry or pixelated
  • Top and bottom text is spelled correctly and reads the way you intend
  • Font and color match your brand, not just a close approximation
  • Material and finish selected is the one you meant to order (plastic vs. a metal finish)
  • Quantity matches what you actually need, since the order minimum is 250 frames

Who at the dealership should give final sign-off?

Assign one person — usually the GM or whoever owns brand decisions — to complete the design in the builder and place the order, rather than passing a screenshot around informally for input. A single owner is what prevents someone raising a change they wanted only after 250 frames are already in production.

How does a multi-location dealer group handle approvals?

Have one brand owner build the master design in the builder, then either place the order directly for every rooftop or hand off that exact configuration so each location orders the identical design. Letting each location build its own version independently is how small inconsistencies — a slightly different blue, a different font — creep in across a dealer group.

Can someone approve a design without being at a computer?

Someone still has to complete the design and checkout in the builder, since that step is the approval — there's no separate sign-off form to route around it. A decision-maker who isn't at a computer can review a screenshot or a screen-share of the live preview and give a verbal go-ahead to whoever is building it.

How do I check a design at actual size before ordering?

Your screen doesn't show physical size — a preview on a laptop and the same preview on a large monitor render at different sizes, even though the manufactured frame is the same dimensions either way. If exact scale matters to you, print the builder preview at 100% scale on paper and hold it against a plate or an existing frame.

What happens if I spot a mistake after I've already placed the order?

Contact us right away through /contact. There's no proof to point back to and no revision round to burn — the design you approved in the builder is the one on file, so the fastest fix is catching it before production finishes. If frames have already shipped with an error, contact us and we'll sort it out.

Why doesn't Frontline Frames send a physical proof or sample before production?

We don't run a proof cycle at all — the builder's live preview replaces it. You design the frame, see exactly what you're ordering in the browser, and that is the approval step, instead of waiting days for a mockup to come back from a sales rep for you to sign off on separately.

Some suppliers build a proof-and-sample process into every order, which adds review rounds and time before production starts. We built the sign-off into the design tool instead: nothing goes into production until you've seen the exact design and quantity yourself and completed checkout, with no rep and no sales call in between.

How does the 250-frame minimum affect a first order?

Every order, including a first order, has a minimum of 250 frames, so the design you approve in the builder is the design 250 dealership vehicles will carry at once. That's exactly why checking logo resolution, color, and text before checkout matters more here than on a small trial order you could redo cheaply.

What if we don't have an in-house designer to review the design?

You don't need one. Reviewing a design in the builder is a checklist, not a design critique: correct logo, correct colors, correct text, correct material and quantity. Whoever owns your dealership's brand decisions can complete that check reliably by working from the list above, no design background required.

How does approval work on subscription reorders?

On a subscription, the design you approve at setup carries forward automatically to every scheduled shipment — monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, or semiannual — without a new approval step each time. That makes the first design session more important, not less, since it becomes your standing frame until you go back into the builder and change it.

How is approving a design in the builder different from a mailed proof?

A mailed or emailed proof is a static image you review separately from where you actually order, and approving it doesn't place the order by itself — a second step still has to happen. The builder collapses that into one step: the live preview is the final design, and finishing it in the builder is the order.

How should we document our approval for the record?

Save a copy of the finished design before you check out — a screenshot of the live preview or your emailed order confirmation both work. That record is your reference point if you ever need to check the frames you received against exactly what you approved, which matters more than which tool you used to save it.

What's the fastest path from first design to a placed order?

Have your logo file, exact brand colors, and one decision-maker ready before you open the builder — most delay in any design process comes from waiting on inputs, not from production. Pricing for your quantity and material is shown live in the builder with no sales call and no setup fee, so once the design is right, you can check out immediately.
